i share your serious ambivalence toward dogma, as well as your hesitance to accept any single ideology as being completely true. while this gives a lot of people a feeling a vertigo, i think that it actually allows you to gain a much more broad understanding of...well whatever it is that we are trying to understand thru religion, philosophy, science, art, etc. etc. etc.
dogmatism is so hard to escape, many times i find myself and others that i know being dogmatic by trying so hard to escape some other kind of dogma...we all have a tendency toward dogmatism, i think, just as far as we all have a desire to be right and to know what is true...
i like what you said there at the end..."i want to be able to accept fluidity and simultaneously try not to drown..." this is exactly the place i try to be in, for some it is a place of vertigo, or a space of indecision and fickleness (if that is a word...), but it can also be a place of freedom that allows for constant transformation, expansion of thought, re-evaluation, and re-birth, etc.
god I love this life fragments thing. it has inspired me to do something similar on my blog ... is that okay?
A question that dogged me for years was "how can this be the only true church when it has such a divisive affect on my relationships with others, members and non-members?"
Also... it's ok to say you are recording the message on tape even though it's all digital these days. In fact, you should use it as much as you can before everyone younger than us doesn't know what a cassette tape is.
It's a digital recorder my friend, a digital recorder. It records these nifty things called ".wma files." :) i haven't upgraded to an .mp3 recorder yet.
